Hunslet Engine Company

Hunslet Engine Company is renowned throughout the world as a designer and producer of the highest quality shunting, industrial, tunneling and specialised locomotives. Today, the company provides a bespoke design and manufacturing service for the UK and export markets.

Founded in 1864, the name Hunslet has been associated with locomotives since the early days of steam. By 1866 Hunslet was already shipping their tenth locomotive to Java (Indonesia). Over 100 years later, they supplied their last of over 2200 steam locomotives produced - to Java! This is now recognised as the last British-built industrial steam locomotive.
